I earn quite alot but I have many debts ,so I have only Rm1980 left after paying debts and employee pension funds.
With that small amount to survive, I manage to force myself to save Rm1000 a month.
I work overtime to earn extra money to support life since I really want to save. I can get Rm262.70 on a monthly basic as my special allowance working in rural area. Then I earn roughly Rm200 to Rm500 as my extra income from overtime.
How to save money every month.
1. I set my monthly goal and yearly goal.
Monthly goal: Save RM1000 per month
Yearly goal: Rm12000 a year
2. I choose an easy method to dicipline myself
~Pay myself first before anything else.
3. I choose a saving method
~put it into Fixed deposit account for 6 months tenure.
4. I choose a suitable lifestyle
~ I reduce my unnecessary expenses such as expensive meal , sweet drinks, junk foods, useless stuffs like decorative and cute stuffs. I stop buying clothes impulsively, I stop buying stuffs that I think I can survive without. I eat more fruits and vegetables, I spend less on processed foods. I spend less eating in restaurant. I manage my spending habit.
5. Except setting my saving basic as Rm1000 per month, I have make myself a rule to save Rm100 extra from my yearly increment.
6. I save extra amount from my public bank acc every end of month in Maybank account as my fast fund.
7. I hold my urge to withdrawl money from my fixed deposit account. I pray to God when I really have no money. (Since overtime payment always delayed for months)
8. I use quality stuffs to avoid spending more. Like I choose colgate whitening toothpaste that could save me lots of money from going to dentist. I choose quality shaMpoo like Dove to save me money from hair treatment session in saloon.
9. I will think twice before buying unnecessary foods like junk, sweet drinks. First, diabetes risk ; second, waste money.
10. I use prepaid telco plan and glad to share to you guys, DIGi gives me free 500mb every month as regular data, free 10gb every month as video and music data. So i seldom buy myself any data except if i need more (when I watch drama online.)
11. I make excuses for not eating out or going out with friends. Yes, It costs money and I dont really like entertaiment. I love reading.
12. I pack my own breakfast and lunch or buy only cheap foods from canteen.
~Vegetables and fish are cheaper and healthier than farm raised chicken. Not more than Rm5 per day.
13. I calculate my petrol usage and mind the usage. Minimum target is 20 litre of petrol must last for five days. (sometimes can last up to six days)
14. I save money in coinbox when I have extra.
~I manage to save Rm70 in two months (Jan and Feb).
15. I make myself a 10k target
~to save Rm10k in 9 months ( Oct 2017)
16. I remind myself everyday about this exciting plan.
